What can Circle of Friends provide for you?

Who is eligible for Circle of Friends?
An individual that will benefit from social and recreational activities within the supportive environment. Someone that requires assistance with mobility or other activities of daily living. Someone whose caregiver would benefit from regular scheduled respite.
How to apply:
You can talk to your home care worker who can refer you to Circle of Friends Program; applicants will also be screened by the Home Care Case Coordinator. A home care assessment will be done to determine if admission to the Circle of Friends program will be beneficial for the applicant. Once this is completed the Circle of Friends Coordinator will do a program assessment to see if the individual is suitable for the program. How often and how to get there?
This program is available two days a week in Steinbach, on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. Transportation for circle of Friends is arranged with Steinbach ACCESSible Transit and the Circle of Friends staff. Pick up time for these days is 9:00 – 9:30 am and drop off is between 2:30 – 3:00 pm.
Fees:
Manitoba Health has a set user fee, prior to admission this will be discussed with the client/individual interested in becoming a part of circle of friends. All billing is done at the end of the month.
Activities:
The Circle of Friends Program has a variety of different activities that can include exercises, games, crafts, singing, reading, discussion groups, and outings. The Circle of Friends staff and volunteers will be there for assistance to make it fun and as easy as possible to participate. There is a rest area available for those needing it throughout the day.
